Craft Class - Pigments from Petals: Flower Pounding

  • Masterson's Garden Center, Inc. 725 Olean Road East Aurora, NY, 14052 United States (map)

The flower pounding classes we hosted last summer were some of the loveliest evenings we’ve ever spent here in the garden center. Surrounded by nature and creating beautiful art, we really are thrilled to have Tami of Blubird Studio back again this summer. These spaces fill up fast, so register vie the MUSEjar site to save your seat!

Make art and support the bees for National Pollinators Month!

Discover the art of using natural pigments through flower power in the courtyard at Masterson's Nursery for Flower Pounding. We'll be in the greenhouse courtyard at Masterson's next to the apiary (safely distanced: don't worry!) and use native flowers grown right in their gardens.

Students will learn how to express natural dye compounds found in the petals and stems of flowering plants and vines and imprint them onto pre-mordanted muslin for an organically "dyed" tapestry piece that will stay vibrant long after the snow comes back.

A portion of the class will go towards Masterson's, helping the work they do to promote education and do their part to save the pollinators and spread awareness. Save the Bees! See you there.
