Summer Recipes

Late summer is the best time of year to enjoy fresh, local produce. Whether you are harvesting herbs and veggies from your own garden or taking advantage of the treasures available at the Farmers’ Market, fresh ingredients are bountiful.
There are two things that I have in abundance in my own garden: tomatoes and basil.
Luckily, these two ingredients complement each other perfectly and find
their way to my table quite often.
Like tonight, when I don’t feel like cooking because it’s hot in my house.
Here’s one of my favorites:
- Slice a loaf of any crusty bread
- Drizzle with olive oil
- Add a slice each of fresh tomato and fresh mozzarella
- Top with a basil leaf
- Sprinkle with sea salt and cracked pepper
I’m always looking for new recipes and ways to use herbs and veggies.
